After days of delay

I'm back!!! These couple weeks have been hectic but I GOT A JOB!!! I work in Oakland so I have to commute for about an hour to an hour and a half every day. I spend roughly 12 hours at work and factoring in my 6-8 hours of sleep leaves me 4 - 6 hours of free time at home. Most people think that this is killer and not really a step up from my 5sam - 1pm shift but I disagree.
a.) I don't mind the drive there and back
b.) I like my work.. so far
C.) Finally, the effort I took to land this job makes this job all the sweeter.

Me working at Sovran is living proof that the economy isn't as bad as people say it is. Sure its a lot harder to get jobs or even interviews for that matter but it doesn't mean jobs don't exist anymore. What people need to realize is that getting a job isn't 100% luck nor is it 100% skill. It is a combination of both.
See, I think the American public is in love with the ideal of futility. When something seems futile, people will either stop and sit in a wall of agony or they might just keep trying the same approach until they get frustrated, become emo, and die from valium overdose. The aspect of critical thinking is gone from today's world.
I'm usually not this arrogant and I am totally not trying to be but I got this job based on sheer will. I wasn't getting nearly as much interviews as I wanted to the first couple of days when I became unemployed and every interview I gotten I treated as if it was my last. I noticed that when I apply online to some place, there is less of a probability that I get an interview than me finding a way to hand my resume to the person face to face. When in an interivew, I found that I am more likely to be called back to a 2nd interview if I leave out the fact that I want to pursue higher education than the latter. Its all about increasing your odds, finding different solutions to one problem. That is the key to finding a job in this economy.
